Primary progressive aphasia

Primary progressive aphasia is characterized by progressively declining language ability. At the late stage of the disease, cognitive function decreases and patients lose ability with daily living, but memory is relatively unaffected. Disease onset is usually at before 70 years old. The earliest and most prominent symptom is language impairment. Eventually patients may completely lose language ability. Patients may also lose the ability understanding written language. There is no effective treatment yet.
