Proctosigmoiditis

Proctosigmoiditis is a subtype of ulcerative colitis. In Proctosigmoiditis the inflammation involves the rectum and sigmoid colon. Signs and symptoms include bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramps and pain. One special symptom with proctosigmoiditis is an inability to move the bowels in spite of the urge to do so (tenesmus).
