Prostatitis

Prostate is located just below bladder. The size and shape look like a walnut. The main function of prostate is to secrete semen. Semen provides nutrients to sperm. Prostatitis refers to inflammation of prostate. It is not contagious, and is not a sexually transmitted disease. Prostatitis can be divided into acute prostatitis, chronic bacterial prostatitis and nonbacterial prostatitis. Prostatitis often causes painful urination, difficult urination and pain in groin, pelvic area or genital area. Treatment options include antibiotics, symptomatic treatment and supportive care.
