Pseudofolliculitis barbae affect men with curly beards. When the curved hair prickles back into the skin, it irritates the skin, causing skin inflammation. This condition is known as pseudofolliculitis barbae. It can be treated using hydrocortisone cream, topical acne treatments such as benzoyl peroxide and tretinoin, hydroquinone, oral tetracyclines, and photodynamic therapy.
