Q fever

Q fever is an acute infectious disease. Livestock is the main source of bacteria causing Q fever. Symptoms include chills, fever, severe headache, muscle pain and other symptoms. Complications include pneumonia and pleurisy. Some patients may also develop hepatitis, endocarditis, myocarditis, thrombotic vasculitis, arthritis and Parkinson paralysis. Tetracycline and chloramphenicol are effective in treating Q fever. The course of treatment in patients with acute Q fever is about 10-14 days. The course of treatment of patients with chronic Q fever can last up to more than two years.
