Rabies

Rabies is an acute infectious disease which affects both human and animals. The pathogen is rabies virus. It is seen in many areas. If not vaccinated, patients will almost always die inevitably when neurological symptoms appear. Unique symptoms include fear of water, fear of sound, fear of wind, anxiety, throat muscle cramps, and progressive paralysis. If bite by a sick dog, you should wash and rinse the wound with tap water or soapy water directly for at least 30 minutes in order to flush out the virus that may enter the wound. You also should immediately go to hospital for treatment. Patients should take rabies vaccine and/or tetanus antitoxin vaccinations. After onset of symptoms, treatment aims at relieving these symptoms. The prognosis is extremely poor.
