When the think wall of tissuees separating rectum and vaginal weakens, the rectum can bulge into the vagina. This conditon is called posterior vaginal prolapse , or rectocele. Childbirth or other activities that put high presure on pelvic tissue can cause posterior vaginal prolapse. If the bulge is large, you may feel it at the vaginal opening. Otehr symptoms include difficulty having bowel movement, feeling pressure and fullness in rectum, or a feeling that the rectum is not completely emptied after bowel movement.
