Rectovaginal fistula is a canal between rectum and vagina. It is the most common form of fecal fistulas of women. If the fistula is small, anus is narrow or the anus is obsructed, you will have symptoms of chronic incomplete intestinal obstruction. If the fistula is big, you do not have obstructive symptoms, but feces may come out of vagina. You may have pain during bowel movement. Feces may have abnormal shapes. If position of the fistula is low, it can be fixed through vulva. If the position is high, abdominal surgery is safer.
