Ringworm (scalp) is a fungus infection of the scalp. It is a highly contagious diseases. Most patients are toddlers and school-age childrens. Symptoms include one or more round bald patches of scaly skin on the scalp. The patches can be itchy or painful. The affected hair also becomes brittle and fragile and can be easily pulled out. Treatment includes shampoos containing anti-fungal medication, and oral antifungal drugs such as riseofulvin (Gris-Peg) and terbinafine (Lamisil).
