Scoliosis

A normal spine is straight. Scoliosis is a condition that spine bends to one side, forming a C-shaped or S-shaped curvature. The common position of scoliosis is between the chest and lumber section of spine. Severe scoliosis may reduce the volume of the chest cavity and restrict lung and heart, which affects heart and lung function. Scoliosis may also cause pain and numbness of neck, shoulder, back and limbs. If the curvature angle is less than 20 degrees, posture correction procedure and exercise therapy can be done under the guidance of a physical therapist. If the curvature is between 20-40 degrees, you may wear a correction brace as conservative treatment. If the curvature is greater than 40 degrees, you should consider surgery.
