Seborrheic dermatitis is inflammation of the upper layer of skin. It can cause skin scaling of scalp, face and other parts of the body. People of two age groups are affected more often: infants from 2-week-old to 1 year old, and youth from adolescence to adulthood. There is no cure yet, but there are ways to control symptoms. Shampoo containing selenium sulfide, pyrithione zinc, salicylic acid or tar helps controlling adult dandruff. Mineral containing salicylic acid or children's shampoo with drugs can be used for children and babies. Aloe cream can relieve the symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis. Glucocorticoids can be used to treat severe skin lesions.
