Shin splints

Shin splint is pain on the inner side of shinbone. It is common in joggers, soccer players, basketball players and track and field athletes. The location of pain is usually at the lower 1/3 point of shin. In most cases symptoms can be alleviated by rest, ice, and other self-care measures. Wearing proper footwear can prevent the recurrence of pain. If pain is above the tibia, it may be stress fracture, so X-ray exam may be necessary.
