Soy allergy

Soy allergy is allergic reaction caused by soy protein. Infants are the most often affected. Many children allergic to soy are able to overcome the allergy by 2 years old, but there are exceptions. Main symptoms include hives, difficulty breathing, runny nose, sneezing, coughing, wheezing, abdominal cramps, nausea and vomiting. In rare cases, soy allergy can cause a life-threatening allergic reaction. People allergic to soy should avoid any food containing soy such as soy bean oil, soy milk, tofu, soy flour and soy sauce.
