Sty is a painful red lump located on the edge of eyelid. It can be on the edge or the inner side of eyelid. It looks like a small lump and is usually filled with pus. The initial symptoms of sty are slight pain and redness in the area of infection. Then eyes will be itching, tearful, sensitive to light. Sty can heal itself. Heat or cold can help the healing. Antibiotic ointment is helpful too. It the lump is filled with pus but do break itself, doctor will cut it open with a small knife and drain the pus.
