Thyroid cancer

Thyroid cancer is a very common endocrine gland cancer. Early symptoms of thyroid cancer are not obvious. With growth of the tumor, there will be a lump in front of neck. Sometimes the lump grows very fast. Typical symptoms of thyroid cancer include hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing, and swollen lymph nodes (especially neck lymph nodes). Throat or neck pain can extend to ears. Enlarged thyroid gland along with unilateral vocal cord paralysis is one feature of thyroid cancer. Surgical resection is the main treatment for thyroid cancer. Patients need lifelong thyroid hormone (levothyroxine) medication after thyroid cancer surgery.
