Torn meniscus

Meniscus is a fibrocartilage tissue inside knee joint, which looks like a half-moon. Any activities needing strong twist or rotation of knee, especially when whole body's weight is applied, may cause a torn meniscus in knee. Symptoms include knee swelling or stiffness. You feel there are obstacles when exercising. You feel pain, especially when twisting or rotating knees. Torn meniscus makes knees instable and affects your mobility. It can cause persistent pain. If the tear is small and located in the vascular zone, you only need plaster or knee support to let it heal. Other types of tear require surgery.
