Transposition of the great arteries

Transposition of the great arteries is a congenital aortic anomaly. Transposition of the great arteries is sometimes associated with other cardiac abnormalities such as atrial septal defect, open foramen ovale, ventricular septal defect and patent ductus arteriosus. Symptoms and degree of cyanosis depend on the degree the blood from systemic and pulmonary circulation is mixed. Currently surgery treatment is to cut the misplaced arteries and reconnect them to the right place.
