Normal women have two X chromosomes. If a woman has three X chromosomes, it is known as Triple X syndrome. The incidence is approximately 1 in 1000 women. Many patients have no or mild symptoms. However, some may have problems such as delayed development of motor function, delayed puberty and infertility. Sometimes menopause comes earlier than normal women. Delayed development of language and speech may cause relative learning disabilities, such as difficulty learning words or difficulty reading. These can be improved by increased training at home or preschool.
