Uterine fibroids

Uterine fibroids are benign growth occurred inside and outside of uterus. They usually affect women of childbearing age. For most cases there is no symptom. Some patients may have vaginal bleeding, abdominal palpable mass and tenderness. They can cause lower abdominal pain, especially for women with multiple uterine fibroids. Uterine fibroids rarely develop into uterine cancer. In general treatment is not needed. If they cause discomfort or other symptoms, they can be shrunk or removed by medication or surgery. Rarely, uterine fibroids may cause sudden and sharp pelvic pain or vaginal bleeding. It needs emergency treatment.
