Vaginitis

Vaginitis refers to vaginal inflammation. It can be caused by change of normal balance of vaginal bacteria, infection or drop in estrogen levels. Common types include bacteria infection, yeast infection and trichomoniasis. Common symptoms include vaginal discharge, itching and pain. Often the urethra is also affected so you may also have urgent urination or painful urination. For infectious vaginitis, mecications are used to kill the pathgens. Vaginal atrophy can be treated using estrogen creams, tablets or rings.
