Whooping cough

Whooping cough, also known as pertussis, is a highly contagious respiratory disease. Both children and adults can be affected. Early symptoms resemble that of common cold, but then patients develop fits of many rapid coughs followed by a high-pitched "whoop" sound. This extreme cough can cause vomiting and exhaution. Whooping cough can be treated with antibiotics.
