It seems that what causes your symptoms is osteoarthritis at the base of thumb.
Osteoarthritis at the base of thumb is arthritis caused by "wear and tear" of bone tissues at the base of thumb. There is poor correlation between symptoms and radiographic findings. You may have severe symptoms without significant X-ray findings.
